Second Mythic March Friday

Welcome to our second Mythic March Friday! First, a couple of important links. First of all, the incredible Iris Compiet is doing a raffle to support Ukraine. Support an important cause and possibly win this faerie chrysalis above.

Second, this wonderful post by Carterhaugh School sharing Ukrainian folklore and more links to help.

How are your projects coming along? Are you steadily working on one particular thing? Flitting here and there like a spring bird in the sun from idea to idea? Having a hard time getting started? Almost done? All of those things are so utterly okay and I’m sure we can all relate to being in every one of those stages.

As for me, I spent last weekend clearing the house of winter, and putting up spring and Easter decorations. It feels so hopeful and happy in the house right now. I also put the six eggs I decorated out on display, and realized there really isn’t space for six more in the spot where I have them. So that clears up my schedule to work on other creative projects! I’ll share a picture and video of them all now, since it’s likely this is the end of this particular project, fun as it was.

When I finished decorating Saturday, I stepped back and thought “hmm…” The mantel looked great, but the fireplace needed one more finishing touch inside. So I made a rabbit (really looks more like a hare to me) silhouette out of foam core, and covered it in cream colored flowers shading to blush pink and yellow on the tips. I think it gave the perfect finishing touch to that spot, which you’ll see when I share my full tour. (Hoping to film as soon as I can…I have other creative projects to get to this weekend. So much to do and so little time!!)

Well this week’s Mythic March prompts are a bit themed to the goings-on of the calendar during the week. It’s the Ides of March on the fifteenth, and also a full moon next Friday, so I played around with those ideas a little bit. Here are the prompts.

-The “Eyes” of March (Pareidolia) “Beware the eyes of March.” Wait, that’s not the saying. But it has me thinking. Eyes are the windows to the soul, and for those of us with pareidolia tendencies (seeing faces and beings in random shapes, especially in nature) it’s often what we see first. Play with pareidolia this week. What faces and magical creatures can you find in nature? In an ink blot? A blob of watercolor?

-Full Moon – What does the full moon do to you? To those around you? How does it affect everyone?

-A Spell for a Lamb – “In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb” is the saying. At least here in Ohio, March came in like a lamb. If you were to make a spell using your creative arts to plead with nature to be gentle this spring (weather, good green growth) what would that spell look like?

Until next Friday, keep creating!! And please do join us in the Domythic Bliss group chatting about our creative adventures.
