Introducing Moyque-Runes!

I’m so very excited to say that Saoirse and Mierla were not the only new fey beings who joined my household as a result of my March trip to England. I’d like to introduce you to Moyque (“moy-kyew”), a Fayble by Armorel Hamilton. He’s a perfect example of never knowing what gifts life will give you. I have two Faybles already, including one jackalope girl I commissioned last summer, so I was more focused going into the Glastonbury weekend on seeing what sort of beings Wendy Froud would be sharing.

But then I went early the first morning to help Desi set up her booth and there was Moyque standing on Armorel’s table. There was a print by Brian that I desperately wanted, so I told myself once the event started I would go up (the Froud table was on the stage) and get it, and if by the time I came back down, Moyque was still there…it would mean it was meant to be. Well…surprisingly, considering he is the handsomest Fayble Amorel has ever made (allow an adopter her bias, but I honestly think so) he really was still sitting there. So I swept him up immediately.

The event had just started, so he stayed tucked away on the edge of the stage above her table with other claimed fey, and I made eyes at him across the room throughout the day. I could hardly believe he was mine.

When he came home, it was as I had suspected: Adley was instantly smitten. (Don’t tell her I told you.) He has such a gracious gentle energy. I only choose to add members to my faemily who have very gentle, positive, and kind energy, and he very much does.

The first Saturday I was back from overseas, I took Moyque with me to the woods to introduce him to the land here, and for the forest fey to get to meet him too. We went for a walk and I simply listened to what he seemed to want to say. The walk took us to the stream, and I asked if he wanted to look at rocks, at which his eyes lit up. I asked if he wanted to find a rock to bring home, and he chose a tiny unassuming pebble. No matter how many other showier rocks we found, he insisted that one was his. And as I showed him other rocks, I noticed he got distressed if I didn’t return them precisely to where I found them. I think he has a fondness for rocks and earth and doesn’t want to disturb them where they’ve chosen to be.

When we found a beautiful little rock a while later he did however agree to take it to the tall mossy tree nearby as an offering.

My plan was to take a candid photo with him on that walk, and maybe a few pictures of him out in nature. But when I pulled up my phone to take a selfie with him, I got a very polite but clear no thank you. Interestingly enough when Armorel was telling me about him later she said that she had taken him to the woods to take photos for an event t-shirt she made, but he demurred to be on the shirt, and seemed to be more about the experiences than wanting the attention.

What a sweetheart he is!

I still very much wanted photos with him to share for this post, so this morning I got dressed up and wrapped him up carefully in a soft scarf in a bag. Adley very clearly wanted to go with us too. They both came to breakfast with myself and a couple of local friends (I’m 43 and whimsical, IDGAF if people think it’s odd), but afterward it was pouring rain and a trip to the woods with them was unthinkable.

So we made the best of things and I set up a little corner in the bedroom for some portraits. I love how it turned out really.

So there he is! Moyque-Runes (Armorel names all her Faybles and gives adoption certificates). He instantly slid into the faemily like he’s always been here, Adley seems thrilled by him. And I certainly know I am too!
